It was in 1961 that a benevolent couple Late Mrs. and Dr. S.P. Wanchoo (Director, Medical & Health, Rajasthan), inspired by a calling of conscience decided to set up a school for the physically challenged children especially the hearing impaired. The couple dreamt and so many other like-minds and equally zealous persons namely Late Mrs. and Mr. K.G. Garg (Chairman, UIT, Ajmer), Late Dr.G.S. Jhala (Superintendent, JLN Hospital, Ajmer), Late Mrs. and Mr. G.S. Toshniwal (Industrialist), Late Mrs. and Mr. S.P.S. Bhandari (IAS), Late Dr. Ellis David, Late Mr.Daanmal Mathur (Vice-Principal, Mayo College), Late Mr. M.N. Bhargava, Late Ms.Mukta Bhatt, Late Mr.Puran S. Mathur, Late Begum Yusuf A. Shah and Late Mr. J.Y. Messy came forward and joined the venture to make these special children a part of the quintessential society by providing them free academic and vocational education with the objective to earn a livelihood for themselves when they grow-up and to live a respectable life. We will always remain indebted to Late Mr.Puran S. Mathur and his family for the generous donation of initial land.
